Mass Effect 3

Well I CANNOT WAIT for Friday , as this is Mass Effect 3 day one of the happiest days of this gaming year . Mass Effect 2 is for me the greatest gaming achievement on any console from any era the conversation wheel enables you to give such varied responses that any 2 play throughs are ever the same with so many different ways to go down your chosen route be that the Good guy (Paragon) or the evil dude (Renegade) . I do always try and play with the choices I would make in the real world thus making me always go down the Paragon path.

The interactions with the members of your crew are another marvel that no other game has come close to achieving , one wrong word and you will shut down a whole story arc with that particular character so you cant just skip through the dialogue with the supporting cast every response counts.

If ME3 can take these 2 particular parts of the previous games and expand on them i will be so happy i may actually explode from gaming goodness . If you haven't pre ordered it already go do it now its pretty much a standard price £37.99 across the board from all your favourite online retailers.

Disappointing video games

Fable 3 is a disappointment , Let me explain I have always been a big fan of the fable series on Xbox I never owned a original xbox but as soon as i found out that the 360 would have the facility to download xbox original games I was on fable straight away and loved it from the first to the last minute , with a very compelling story along with fun side quests it was a different style of RPG from the ones i had played previously (such as Final Fantasy)



When I heard that Fable 2 was coming to Xbox 360 I eagerly awaited its release even pre ordering it something I very rarely do and once i got my copy it didn't leave my console until l had finished it. with much improved graphics , a deeper story line and even more side quests including taking on jobs to earn more money. It also bought in the for your actions to effect the look of your character , for instance one night after performing a rather evil act I turned my console off and went to bed when i next loaded up the game my character had developed demon horns on his head , which changed the way all the NPC's reacted to me in game.



So we now get to Fable 3 as soon as i put it in and loaded it up i wasn't feeling it something didn't feel right the graphics didn't seem to have improved if anything they seem to have gone back a generation , the camera also seemed very hard to control often not enabling me to see all the enemy's on screen which can be a problem .
I have only played for around 1 hour so really cant comment on the story of this game but all in all this game has left me massively disappointed and for this i can only really blame Peter Molyneux , the reason for this is this man is a one man HYPE machine who always hypes up his games way beyond anything they can ever realistically expect to achieve . When this happened with fable 2 I forgave him as the game stood up on its own but not this time and in future i will be cautious when buying a Molyneux product

New Xbox 360 Dashboard Update

So the new dashboard update is now live on the Xbox 360 lets have a little look through the features shall we , the main reason for the update is for the launch of microsofts new peripheral which apparently makes you the controller (we'll see) .

The first change you will see is the new opening sequence of the xbox which has been modified slightly , check out the video above to see the new start up 

The most noticable changes are to the overall appearance of the dashboard , gone are the old neon green tabs replaced with new white square one , for me this is a step backwards in appearance but hey each to there own .

They have also included a new easier way to get to your family settings very handy if you share a console with your children 

There has also been updates to the lay out of both game and music marketplace and also new features in the zune marketplace , it now also displays your microsoft points total in the top right hand corner for a quicker way to view them 

One minor change is to the font that the dashboard uses its a subtle difference but its one that i like a lot it makes names and Cheevo's that much clearer to read 

Overall I'm fairly happy with the new look , it certainly does load up quicker and the new font is very nice .

Medal Of Honor : Guest Reviewer David Green

I recently went into blockbuster in the mind set to rent 'Enslaved: odyssey to the west' but it was all out so I picked up the new 'Medal Of Honor'.

The missions in this game are short and not really full of action it took me only five hours to complete this game to make your experience better I personally recommend that you play through on hard I found your AI team mates will kill most of your opponents before you get the chance to aim. The only thing that stand out in this game are the cut scenes which are nice and very realistic. 
There are a few in mission achievements to pick up that you could quite easily miss if you don't look at the achievements list first.

The multi player experience is good but nowhere near up to the standard of call of duty, first of all you have the choice of three weapons in total one with each class which you don't get to change until you level up a few times. The maps are far to small for a 12 VS 12 team games. You do however get achievements for p levelling up each class and playing online for long hours for example playing online for two hours.

Overall I give this game a 72%

I highly recommend you rent and not purchase this game!

Bank Holiday Monday !

So yet another bank holiday rolls around and as far as I can see there is no bond film on tv today , now personally I'm not a big bond film fan but surely it's a sort of tradition . But there is a superman film on you may cry yes I can see that but it is in no way comparable to 007.

I've recently picked up mafia 2 on xbox 360 so most of my free time is being taken up by that at the moment , in terms of it being a open world game it's actually very unopen as you do really have to stick to where the game wants you to go to complete the next mission.

The combat system works very well with only the occasional glitch in the targeting, the story it's self is quite compelling following the story of Vito Scaletta in his quest to make it to the top of the mafia tree .

The game lends heavily from mafia movies such as the godfather & goodfellas among others but any fans of the those films and the sandbox style of game I think will find this very entertaining .

I also like the look of metroid : other M on wii which I may pick up even after a few dodgy reviews if so I'll give a little review soon.
