Football & illness go hand in hand

Once again I have flu for the second time this year and its only the start of march , Bad times.

On Saturday Leeds beat local rivals Doncaster 5-2 in our most successful show of attacking football all season with the combination of GBH (Gradel , Becchio & Howson) getting the goals for us , with 35 league games now played we have scored a very surprising 67 goals although we have shipped 57 making our goal difference look a lot worse than it should be .

Celebrations after Gradel's opener
Gradel celebrates scoring

Saturdays game vs Donny highlighted a problem we have had all season long NOT TAKING OUR CHANCES       which considering the amount of goals we have scored is a scary thought , and then ending up conceding a goal or two against the run of play.

Max Gradel opens the scoring
Gradel about to score again

But with a minimum of 11 games to go we sit relatively comfortable in 6Th place 4 points ahead of Burnley in 7th place  although they do have 2 games in hand on us more exciting is the gap of only 5 points to Swansea in 2nd place and with Preston away tonight (who require a damn good beating after they beat us unbelievably 4-6 earlier this season) comes the chance to finally end our Tuesday night problems. With the addition of Aston Villa Central midfielder Barry Bannan added to the squad we are looking good for the remainder of the season , one thing for sure is it's going to be entertaining.

The following is a paid advertisement (not really) for tesco home delivery service

So neither me nor my wife can drive which can prove troublesome when it comes to making sure there is food in our flat , our solution is to use Tesco's excellent home delivery service .

Having ordered our food on-line yesterday evening (Sunday 6pm ish) we chose a delivery slot of Monday morning 9 - 11 it turned up at 9:01am but what I am most impressed with is the substitution of items that are unavailable in there store , having ordered a 250g jar of marmite I instead got a 500g jar for no extra cost as the 250g jar was out of stock and shit more marmite is always a good thing !

Thats my little review done i highly recommend using it if you cant be arsed to go to the store or cant drive.

Now if you have been following my blog you will be aware that we have a puppy he is now 3 months old and a HELL of a lot bigger than we thought he would be at this stage photographic evidence of this is below.

but with him now being old enough to go out for walks that is making things around the house a lot better with him finally being able to burn of that excessive energy rather than use it to try and destroy our home!

now on to something you may enjoy if you like to take the piss out of video games this is a episode of Games Radar's Trailer Trash Theater which is very very funny so be sure to check out the rest of them as well

Tomorrow is my 27Th birthday so I'm off to contemplate life and my impending death until next time Peace out

Disappointing video games

Fable 3 is a disappointment , Let me explain I have always been a big fan of the fable series on Xbox I never owned a original xbox but as soon as i found out that the 360 would have the facility to download xbox original games I was on fable straight away and loved it from the first to the last minute , with a very compelling story along with fun side quests it was a different style of RPG from the ones i had played previously (such as Final Fantasy)

When I heard that Fable 2 was coming to Xbox 360 I eagerly awaited its release even pre ordering it something I very rarely do and once i got my copy it didn't leave my console until l had finished it. with much improved graphics , a deeper story line and even more side quests including taking on jobs to earn more money. It also bought in the for your actions to effect the look of your character , for instance one night after performing a rather evil act I turned my console off and went to bed when i next loaded up the game my character had developed demon horns on his head , which changed the way all the NPC's reacted to me in game.

So we now get to Fable 3 as soon as i put it in and loaded it up i wasn't feeling it something didn't feel right the graphics didn't seem to have improved if anything they seem to have gone back a generation , the camera also seemed very hard to control often not enabling me to see all the enemy's on screen which can be a problem .
I have only played for around 1 hour so really cant comment on the story of this game but all in all this game has left me massively disappointed and for this i can only really blame Peter Molyneux , the reason for this is this man is a one man HYPE machine who always hypes up his games way beyond anything they can ever realistically expect to achieve . When this happened with fable 2 I forgave him as the game stood up on its own but not this time and in future i will be cautious when buying a Molyneux product

Leeds - the season so far

When the season began back in august if you had told me that we would be pushing for a automatic promotion spot I of course would hae been happy but I also would have been a little sceptical .

Looking at the squad before our first game at derby I honestly though that the loss o a certain mr beckford and his goals coupled with the change in formation to the new 4-5-1 I thought we would struggle to hit the back of the net . Lookin at the table in mid January my fears have proved to be completely unfounded as we are the joint top scoters in the championship along with Watford on 50 goals.

One major concern that has been with us all season long however is our ability to ship goals to go along with our 50 goals scored we have conceded a worrying 43 , now this is something that Simon Grayson has been trying to rectify all season with us trying out numerous back 4's this year.

The introduction of Andy O'Brien to the team gave us a much stronger lookin back line when he was played along with Alex Bruce, Paul Connelly & George McCartney for me that is our Strongest back line with obviously young Kasper between the posts .

In midfield this season we have been playing with 3 central and 2 wingers come wide mids , before the season started I also had fears over weather Jonny Howson and Bradley Johnson would be able to make the step up but I have been once again prove wrong on both of these with Howson in perticular really finding his natural role playin in the hole behind the front man.

On the wings a combination of Mad Max Gradel , Lloyd Sam , Sanchez Watt and Robert Snodgrass have caused full backs trouble all season long with Snoddy and Gradel really standing out for me.

Up front we have had the ever willing Luchiano Becchio , surprise package Davide Somma and to a lesser extent Billy Paynter and Ross McCormack , I have been massively impressed with Becchio's performances this season the highlight of which must surely be coming on as a second half sub at home to Bristol City and prompty banging in a hat trick (Magical stuff)

There has been a few lowlights however those being the insane matches against Preston and Barnsley along with a thumping by Cardiff but strangely this bad times have only served to make us a stronger team unit and following such defeats we have always put on a good performance in our next game.

Back to the Grindstone

So here we go again another year begins and apart from our new addition to our home nothing much changes , I had a week off last week which was spent trying to train our pup (Rufus) but I've been back at work for a whole 2 nights now and already I feel as if I haven't even been away .

Couple this with the fact that I seem to have caught a nasty bout of MAN FLU !!

But anyway i hope everyone is sticking to there new year resolutions and you're also enjoying being back at work as much as me.

New Year / New Puppy

Welcome to 2011 , yeah I know I'm a few days late with that but hey i've been busy mainly with trying to train out new puppy .

For those in the know you will already have met him for the rest of you we got a Brown Border Collie and called him Rufus , he is still only 6 1/2 weeks old so training is still very hit and miss but he is responding well to sit and paw with the aid of plenty of treats .

He's still 5 weeks away from being taken out for a walk so until then he is house bound and apart from chewing almost everything he comes across he seems very happy and playful .
